Berlinale Goes Kiez: The Programme

From February 17 to 23, Berlinale Goes Kiez will be rolling out the Red Carpet in a new Berlin neighbourhood on a daily basis, bringing festival atmosphere and international guests to arthouse cinemas in Berlin and surrounding areas. The assembled programme has been drawn from diverse sections at the Berlinale and specially selected for the participating cinemas. Featuring a total of 16 feature-length films from the Competition, Encounters, Panorama, Forum, Generation and Retrospective sections, as well as a short film programme from Berlinale Shorts, the special series offers a cross-section of the festival programme at cinema locations full of charm and character.

Special film guests will be on hand for each event, to provide introductions and/or participate in film talks following the screenings. Anne Lakeberg, herself a long-time operator of a Berlin neighbourhood cinema, will be hosting each event, providing moderation and inviting cinema-lovers to encounter filmmakers and interact with them personally in a familial atmosphere – an opportunity that the film teams also appreciate deeply every year.

Special Screening at the JVA Plötzensee Correctional Facility

The series will once again be complemented by a special screening at the JVA Plötzensee correctional facility, which will also be accessible for an external audience again this year.

On February 20 at 5.00 pm, the facility will host a presentation of Ellbogen (Elbow), from this year's Generation programme. Following the screening, a moderated Q&A with the film team will take place here as well.

Please note the specific admission requirements for the special event at the JVA Plötzensee correctional facility. Tickets for the screening can be ordered from February 12 on by calling +49 30 259 20 259 – please be prepared to provide your full name, birthdate and ID number. Tickets are valid exclusively for the ordering person and are not transferable.

There is space for a limited number of members of the press to attend – please register in advance. It is not permitted to take photos or video recordings inside the venue.

Berlinale Goes Kiez is made possible with the generous support of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
