Hamlet

Premiere der wiederentdeckten, neu restaurierten Farbfassung. Erstaufführung der Filmmusik von Michael Riessler (2007). In Kooperation mit dem Deutschen Filminstitut - DIF, Frankfurt am Main, und dem ZDF in Zusammenarbeit mit ARTE
Until now, Asta Nielsen's rendition of HAMLET (with Nielsen as a Medieval flapper) was only available in a black-and-white version. In Autumn 2005, an origi nal cinema print of the version shown at the film's German premiere was acquired by the German Film Institute DIF. The intertitles of this recently discovered nitrate print follow the wording on the censor's card. The film was shot in black-and-white and subsequently tinted using the polychrome method. This restored German Film Institute version is based on the hitherto unknown cinema print of the original German-language version for distribution.
