First Works Confirmed for Forum Expanded
The selection of the 15th Forum Expanded is nearly complete. Works already confirmed include new films by Ana Vaz and Akram Zaatari and installations by Filipa César, Kika Thorne, Joe Namy, Forensic Architecture and The Otolith Group. Following last year’s successful inaugural show at silent green Kulturquartier, this year’s group exhibition will be taking place there at the underground Betonhalle once again.
The first works to be confirmed point to an exciting programme: The Otolith Group’s INFINITY minus Infinity explores racism in British society today via the fate of the Caribbean immigrants of the “Windrush Generation”. Made at the Sensory Ethnography Lab, Harvard Peabody Expedition to Netherland New Guinea 1961 is a study of sound recordings made during the shoot for Robert Gardner’s ethnographic film Dead Birds. Akram Zaatari also focuses on sound: In Al-Houbut (The Landing), sound artists make an abandoned desert town resonate. The full list of works will be published in January.
