“Bring them home now”: Youth by Tom Shoval
Film screening and discussion on March 17 at 6.45 pm
The screening is sold out. Remaining tickets are only available at the box office.
In 2013, the film Youth starring the twin brothers David and Eitan Cunio celebrated its premiere in the Berlinale Panorama section.
Ten years later, on October 7, 2023, David Cunio, his wife and their two daughters were among those kidnapped by Hamas and taken to the Gaza Strip. Activists in Israel and abroad have been campaigning for the release of the hostages and for negotiations ever since.
To create space for discussions about the fight for the release of the hostages in Gaza, the Krokodil cinema in Berlin is now screening Tom Shoval's Youth in cooperation with the Jewish Film Festival Berlin & Brandenburg.
Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with an activist from the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, a survivor of the massacre and a film director from the Sapir Film School in Israel.
The Berlinale director Mariëtte Rissenbeek and the head of the Panorama section, Michael Stütz, will be present at the event.
The Berlinale calls for the release of David Cunio and all the hostages in Gaza as well as strict compliance with international law and the protection of civilians by all sides involved in the conflicts and fighting in the Middle East.
More information about the event can be found on the website of the Jewish Film Festival Berlin & Brandenburg.
