First Titles of Generation – Senses of Community

Generation offers a first preview of the competition programmes Kplus and 14plus. So far eight feature-length films and seven short films, involving a total of 16 production countries, have been confirmed. Among them are ten world premieres. Michel Gondry, Čejen Černić Čanak, Rima Das and Karim El Shenawy are showing their new films; Rafaela Camelo, Vasilis Kekatos, Eric San (aka Kid Koala) and Maja Ajmia Zellama are presenting debuts.

Between reduced chamber plays and opulent dance films, the selected films offer a dazzling variety of cinematic languages. Between the marshlands of Iraq and distant planets, they provide a view far across the globe and beyond. The programme outlines the question of the ways in which we connect with others and recount intimate mourning and collective action, the possibilities of imagining other worlds and the ways of getting there, on one’s own and together.
