Ten-year-old Pari and her blind younger brother Chotu are inseparable. She holds his hand whenever they roam about the place together and, even when they argue, they are nonetheless loving. Their parents are no longer alive and their uncle, with whom they share a hut in a barren part of the country, cannot look after them properly. And so they only have each other. Pari has promised her brother that he will be able to see again when he turns nine, but they have no money for an operation. With Chotu’s birthday approaching Pari has to think of something. A line on a poster of the great film star Shah Rukh Khan convinces her this is the man who will help her brother. When Pari learns that Shah Rukh Kahn is making a film 300 kilometres away in the desert, she and little Chotu set off. They struggle down many a dusty road. People often help them, but they also have to watch out sometimes. Encouraged by their unswerving optimism, the pair experience a fairy-tale like odyssey through an impoverished land that still exudes magic, everywhere. Their zest for life is contagious and irresistible.
