Florian Weghorn
Florian Weghorn has been the Chief of Staff in the executive team of Berlinale Director Tricia Tuttle since July 2024. He works closely with Tricia Tuttle and the team on the strategic development of the festival.
Florian Weghorn joined the Berlinale in 2002, initially starting at the Generation section. From 2008 to 2014, he was the section’s Co-Director and a curator of its around 60 short and feature films screened each year. Between 2012 and 2019, he was also a member of the Berlinale Competition selection committee. From 2014 to 2024, Florian Weghorn was the Programme Manager of Berlinale Talents and further expanded the festival's talent development initiative with its seven international branches into a year-round community with almost 10,000 alumni and a strong partner network.
With a focus on film policy and socially, ecologically and economically sustainable organisational and programme development, Florian Weghorn has been involved in various other international festivals, film funding bodies and cultural institutions in addition to the Berlinale. He is an active member of the European Film Academy and currently plays a leading role in the founding of the new Association of Film Festivals in Germany.
Born in Oldenburg in 1976, Florian Weghorn holds an M.A. in Theatre, Film and Television Studies from the University of Cologne with a thesis on the "Visual Language of Melancholy in Film".
