Hawaikii

To young Tamahine, starting school is like entering a whole new world that is completely alien to her. Tamahine has been brought up according to the cultural traditions of the Maori. Tamahine's father works for the railway. He doesn't earn much. But the family has something far more valuable than wealth, namely, a strong bond and an imaginary, mythical refuge known as Hawaikii.
