Pegah Ahangarani
3 zan | 3 Women by Manijeh Hekmat
IRN 2008, Panorama
Minou is a weaver and an expert rug-maker. She lives with her mother and daughter and is busy trying to repair a valuable old kelim rug. Caught up in her own world of dreams and obsessions, she hardly takes any notice of the other two women living with her. But then her daughter disappears, and Minou sets off in search of her. Minou’s mother is forgetful. Her grip on the present is slipping away from her so much that she gets lost and can’t find her way home. For Minou, who is in danger of losing everything she has, the search for her daughter and her mother becomes a search for truth – and a way of finding her true identity. Pegah has left her mother Minou without any particular destination in mind. Her journey takes her through one of Iran’s remotest areas. This is where she encounters a young man who is wandering about just as aimlessly as she is.
The journeys these three women undertake help them to discover who they are. But will they be able to live together again?
