When literature student Anastasia Steele interviews 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey for her university magazine, she meets a man who immediately changes her life. The young, rather intellectual woman feels provoked by his arrogant and offensively salacious manner. But at the same time the handsome Christian exerts a fascination that she finds irresistibly attractive. He makes it clear to Anastasia, who is inexperienced in the ways of love, that he has no time for romance. And yet in spite of all the warnings, she quickly finds herself in his arms. They embark upon an intense affair in which Christian always makes sure he keeps the upper hand. Anastasia gets to know his dark side and discovers in herself undreamt-of sadomasochistic desires.
