In a deckchair under a beach umbrella in the middle of a traffic island, Julia sits listening to the Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’ at full volume – simply existing, in a world that seems to take little notice of her as it keeps on turning. Even her brief nervous breakdown at the hairdresser’s merely ebbs away, like waves that gather only to dissipate again. Between a Russian Orthodox mass and the beach, a search for identity unfolds.

Delfina Gavaldá

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1991, she studied music production at the Escuela de Música de Buenos Aires (EMBA). With a focus on the audiovisual field, she works with dance and photography and is currently completing an image and sound design degree at the University of Buenos Aires. A member of the Grupo Veinte artists’ collective, in 2017 she made her first short documentary, Coronados (Crowned), in collaboration with Florencia Bianco.

Carmen Rivoira

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1993, she is currently studying image and sound design at the University of Buenos Aires. She has worked as a production designer and filmmaker since 2017, making music videos and fashion films. She is a member of the Grupo Veinte artists’ collective and worked with Wilson Chang on the cinematography of her first documentary short, Coronados (Crowned).
