The Film Community of the Many: Berlinale Talents Calls for Applications
Until September 4, 2023, emerging film creators can once again apply for Berlinale Talents (February 17-22, 2024). The talent development initiative offers 200 creatives from 14 film disciplines the opportunity to take part in a multitude of think tanks, talks, workshops and labs. With more than 9,500 alumni in over 150 countries, and seven branches worldwide, Berlinale Talents has become also one of the biggest and most active film communities year-round.
For more than 20 years, Berlinale Talents has been pioneering the support of talent from all film crafts and project development beyond the initial career phases, and is now boosting its cooperative consulting formats: Self-reflection, facilitating abilities to deal with change, and real commitment to social, ecological and economical sustainability in the film industry will also be the focus of the new Directors Studio and Producers Studio. Both workshop series combine events on the role of directing and production, take a critical look at leadership, and show new perspectives on resource and team friendly working models.
Berlinale Talents has lowered more hurdles in the area of diversity and inclusivity. Applicants can now describe any structural challenges in their environment, so that these can be taken into consideration by the diversely staffed selection committees. Thanks to the “Talents Solidarity Pact”, the 20 euro service fee can be reduced without any proof of income, or increased to show solidarity with other applicants. In addition, Berlinale Talents invites donations from the public to make the trip to Berlin possible for the many Talents in financial crisis situations.
All application criteria and the online application form are available at www.berlinale-talents.de.
Berlinale Talents is a Berlinale Pro* initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival, a division of Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH, supported by the Minister of State for Culture and Media, Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme of the European Union, Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg, German Federal Film Board, Mastercard, and ARRI.
