Welcome Home Baby
Berlin emergency doctor Judith has inherited a house which she did not even know existed from the family that gave her away as a child. She travels to Austria with her husband Ryan to sell the property. Once there, Judith meets her inscrutable aunt Paula who seems determined to keep her in the village. But the longer Judith stays in her former home, the more images and emotions from her subconscious come to the surface. In her search for the truth, Judith unleashes unexpected powers; space and time dissolve and she loses control of her own will. Trapped in a nightmare, she desperately tries to break the cycle.
Welcome Home Baby is a psychological thriller that uses genre tropes to confront the audience with questions about trauma, identity and self-empowerment. It is a film that approaches the horror of the incomprehensible via atmosphere, associations and ellipses. A visually stunning plunge into the hidden depths of a foreign homeland.
