Chopping Onions

Soli’s six years old and lives in New York. When she has to spend a week with her Korean grandmother there, the different cultural backgrounds collide. After days spent at an American summer camp with other children, Soli not only begins to reject her beloved Granny. She’s also not interested in speaking Korean, and instead of traditional delicacies she’d rather eat French fries. The filmmaker is very familiar with this kind of cultural conflict.
