WCF Classic Distribution Support

Submission Deadlines

Submission open only for films that will have their theatrical release in German cinemas in 2024.

The aim of the World Cinema Fund is to support films from regions whose cinematography is endangered by political and/or economic crises. The distribution support is intended to give them worldwide visibility and thus, the WCF also contributes to the diversity in German cinemas.

The projects to be supported should deal with the specific realities of their region/country and contribute to the development of the local film industry.

The central selection criterion is the artistic quality of the projects. Special consideration is given to innovative projects that tell powerful stories and are committed to the development of a creative film language that is exceptional in terms of content and outstanding in terms of artistry, that have chances of international success and promise development impulses for the film culture of their origin. Furthermore, projects whose completion is of cultural-political relevance.
